Town/Area: MWANZA/NYAKATO- LAKE VICTORIA
In Partnership with: International Health Partners IHP-TZ

Project 1: Upgrade/renovation of Dispensaries/Hospital facilities
Project 2: Medical Volunteers

Project 3: Teaching Volunteers

At Mwanza help is needed with organizational types of things - setting up files, arranging Central Supply and the pharmacy, etc.  We can always use help with painting, etc.  We always need electrical and most especially plumbing help.  Also masons

Medical volunteers must register with IHP-TZ first so they can get them licensed through the Tanzanian government.  They need to send a CV, a copy of their license, etc., and they will need to fill-in a form.

Teachers are always welcome.  They will not be put to work in the medical system, but the diocese as many teaching opportunities open and would welcome help of any kind.

All other longer-term volunteers will need to be registered with the diocese.  Needed advance information: their name, passport #, and a short bio of who they are.

Accommodation can be arranged in Mwanza town (range from basic to upper standard) or in diocese's guesthouse once renovated.

Town/Area: KARATU - NGORONGORO
In Partnership with: Kudu Lodge and Campsite

Project 1: A new School for Young People
Project 2: An Orphanage
Project 3: A Church School for Nursery Class
Project 4: Street Children

The building for the new school is rented and so there is little work to do on it, but there are 4 other buildings which are used in connection with the other projects that need ongoing maintenance as you can imagine. Painting being always necessary of course.

The programme for the Street Children involves weekly washes for the children, feeding, playtime and attendance at a local church. One very specific task that needs to be done is the construction of a play area for the boys, who love football, and some kind of open air gymnasium! Several of the boys are terrific acrobats so this is an area that we need to encourage them in, at present only very rough ground is available for sports activities.

It is important to encourage the children to learn how to cultivate foodcrops, so seeds and help with tending the garden is necessary. Firstly of course we would need to make a garden area. Any help in this connection would be invaluable.

Owners of Hakuna Matata Beach Lodge, Rose and Fritz, equipped a local school with computers (PC's) through donations but now know-how is needed.

Almost every traveller has basic knowledge of computers and if you are willing to share it with the local teachers ("train the trainers") or pupils, your help would be invaluable!
