Mt. Meru Trekking Tours

  • OUR TREKKING TOURS:

Mt. Meru Momela Casual – Four-days Trek

Mt. Meru Momela Express – Three-days Trek

Here are presented the standard Mt. Meru Treks, which have the same route but differ in number of days.

This exciting trek to the Meru Summit on Momela Route will take you through different vegetation zones, from grassland and lush forest rich with wildlife (Buffalos, Giraffes and Zebras are quite common) on the lower slopes of the mountain to bare rocky summit! A very spectacular and exhilarating is a walk along the narrow edge of the crater rim towards the peak! And just wait to see the views from the Meru Summit!

Mt. MeruAlthough climbing Mt. Meru is nowhere difficult or technical, the altitude may have an affect on you; as with Mt. Kilimanjaro, it is a serious trek and proper acclimatization is important. The trek route is quite steep but can be done in four days (three nights); some well-acclimatized and fit trekkers do it even in three days by combining Day 3 and Day 4.

Note:
Overnight is in huts. In addition to our walking guide, an armed Ranger will accompany you during the trek to protect you from wildlife.

For more information about what to bring on trek, altitude diseases and other trekking details, have a look at our Trekking Tips, Trekking FAQ and Altitude Illness info. Combine your trek with a game drive in the amazing Arusha National Park or other parks and reserves in the Northern Circuit! (more)
