Cultural Tribal Tours

Cultural tourism in Tanzania started as a programme to help rural communities benefiting from tourism directly by offering organized tours to their communities.

You can combine any of the Cultural Tours with your Safari Tour or Trekking Tour, or allow us to prepare a »Tailor-Made Programme« to suit all your wishes. Contact us for details!

If you decide to join some of the Cultural Tours you will not only gain an amazing and unique new experience but also become »a small investor« in different development projects. Click on individual name to see what particular community has to offer:

Cultural Tourism Programme allows local people such as Maasai, Pare, Sambaa, Wa-arusha, Gogo, Nyakyusa and Wazaramo to show visitors their unique culture and rituals, sacred places of worship, different economic activities like farming, craftwork, pastoralism and fishing etc in exchange for a donation.

With MaasaiThe income generated is used by the village people for specific development programmes such as building of dispensaries, kindergartens and schools to promotion of energy-saving stoves and building cattle-dip sites for tick control.

Cultural Tours range from a couple of hours to several days. Overnight accommodation involves camping, guesthouses, home-stays and hotels, depending on a tour and village facilities. All Cultural Tours are guided by trained, local people wearing an identity card of the Cultural Tourism Programme.

Cultural Tourism Programmes are governed by the Cultural Tourism Coordination Office.
